Now and Then … March 7th Art and Art WIP

My art of Karasu a couple of years ago for Atsushi Sakurai’s birthday using Acchan for reference, and a WIP of me × Karasu for Seven Heavenly Virtues art prompt, “Chastity”, for the PaperDemon Art RPG this year. 💖🥰💖

King Karasu × Princess Sha

For a character design challenge group on Facebook, the theme for May is Super Mario Bros so I reimagined myself and my imaginary SO as Super Mario Bros characters. I’m Princess Sha of Cherryland (Sha is pronounced like the French word for “cat”) 🐈‍⬛🍒 and he’s King Karasu of Crowland 🐦‍⬛ (Karasu is the Japanese word for “Crow”, “Raven”, and “Blackbird”; Crowland is also the name of my imaginary world). ☺🩷

p.s. that’s supposed to be the super-duper adorable pink Bob-Omb, Bombette, from Paper Mario series cos he knows I love everything pink and cutesy! 💕🩷💕 as Karasu is known as the Mad Bomber in Yu Yu Hakusho, or at least the card game, lololol. 😋

WIP Crow Sha Steven Rain

So, we have Dr. Crow looming over Sha who sees him, and Steven who can’t see him. Sha thinks he’s part of her hallucinations related to her anxiety disorder (chronic PTSD). There’s more to the Crow than that, however – but that would be spoilers for our webcomic (upcoming). Dr. Crow is a homage to my imaginary SO, Karasu from Yu Yu Hakusho. Sha is my self-insert original character, and the first of several I have thanks to being a roleplayer. Steven is my/her first boyfriend, intiially based on Android 17 from DragonBall Z. This is a WIP, which I’m posting cos I said I would post it for Steven’s birthday today (June 4th) … as you can see, I didn’t finish it yet. I’m really struggling with all aspects of my health and fatigue, thus the delays. I have a backlog of other WIPs, too.

Thank you, Micky, for drawing the outline for Dr. Crow’s pose which helped me out a whole lot!!

WIP: Carnation, Amy, and Leopold (CotMS)

(From left to right: Carnation, Amy, and Leopold from our Gothic novel, Curse of the Mystic Sword.) 🥀💀🥀

I’ve been rearranging the apartment, since I realised I have a lot of space in my room (technically a large walk-in closet), so I have been taking my boxes of old stuff from the hallway, and putting them into my room.

Naturally, I’ve been going thru some of the boxes as I do so, and was happy to rediscover my art book from 2015-2016 (when we resided at the Victorian mansion), which I thought was lost forever! I was so grateful to find it – tysm, God! 🙇🏻‍♀️🙏🏻😇

I also found a very large sketchbook with this trio inside its pages; what’s so special, as well as rare, about this is, all three of us drew this together – I drew Carnation, Micky @octobernocturne drew Amy, and Rob @timewillcrawl94 drew Leopold! 👩🏻‍🎨👨🏼‍🎨👨🏻‍🎨

They’re in Curse of the Mysic Sword, a Gothic novel we’ve been writing since Autumn, 2006. Carnation is an independent woman, ever at odds with Leopold, who – unbeknownst to her – is a vampyre, as is his adopted daughter, Amy. 🌹🥀🦇🥀🌹

(… we’re gonna need a bigger scanner! 😆)

2016: Raphael versus Mitsurugi | Soul Calibur’s 20th Anniversary

I wrote this description on my old art blog:

Both of these guys were important characters in my SC fanfic series back in 2009; the same one that’s being rewritten for an original Soul Calibur-inspired webcomic series that I’ve been working on over the Summer.

Ironic but typical that Namco would set these two against one another, when they mean so much to me, right? n.n’ … As tough as it is going to be to say this, I have no doubt in my mind that Mitsurugi would be the victor.

From my view, Mitsurugi has the advantage due to being inspired by a real life person who never once lost a duel, as well as that given he is still alive and well by SCV, he hasn’t ever lost a battle, because losing would mean Death — that is the samurai way.

Besides, Raphael wasn’t even able to get the upper hand on the 21-year-old girl, Cassandra, when he stole her fragment of Soul Edge — how could he stand a chance against Mitsurugi?😛

In honour of my two favourites, here is my WIP poster of their battle —

A very special thanks to my twin, @octobernocturne, for coming up with the poses, and being my de facto director in how this battle scene plays out! n_n ♡

Art therapy: Social Anxiety

My therapy homework – the social worker said I could visualize, write or draw about myself in social settings to help combat my social anxiety (since I’m refusing to go outside on my own again… 😬) so here I am on the arts street with a peach iced tea from Hyrule Market (which is what we call the marketplace there) since I said I wanna be able to go there on my own someday… hopefully soon!! 😁

Happy Christmas

I drew this for Christmas, 2016. This is David Ravenson and his pet fox, Ruby. They’re characters in my upcoming webcomic, Soul of Eternity, which I hope I’ll be publishing online within this decade. Ravenson is a homage to The Cars drummer, David Robinson, who I am in touch with over fb thanks to my fanpage dedicated to his music and art, while Ruby is inspired by my favourite Pokemon, Vulpix. :3 ♡

Edit – August 21st, 2021 – I found this description from my old art blog:

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year! n.n ♡

Featuring David Ravenson, and his red vixen, Ruby. They both appear much later on in one of my webcomics, Soul of Eternity.

He is totally not a drummer, and she is totally not a fire type Pokémon. ;P

My #bestnine for #bestnine2019, all of which are my artwork this year – as an aspiring professional artist, this makes me pretty happy, yeah. :3 #artof2019

Puck’s Shadow

Kagemitsu {Jung Sha-Mina} and her master, Puck, from Soul of Eternity, inspired by my old Soul Calibur fanfic novel series. 💜

Confessions of an artist: I admit I traced over a screenshot I took of Acchan from the music video, “Romance”, by BUCK-TICK to draw Puck here… B-T is a HUGE inspiration for Puck, Kage and the rest of the Eternity clan aside from being inspired by Yoshimitsu, the fanfic version of Kage, and the Manji clan from Soul Calibur.

Edit – August 21st, 2021 – I found this description from my old art blog:

It wasn’t supposed to be this way.

A proto-type design for Sha-Mina, and her master, Puck-sensei.

This was produced during a brief time period during the Summer of 2015 that my siblings — unfortunately — asked me to have my old series of Soul Calibur fanfics cross-over with our main graphic novel series that we had been writing for years, with them requesting I rewrite everything completely to be original, and set in the modern age, which honestly ended up butchering the entire concept and point of my series. -_-

I was hurt, but grateful when it was retconned; however, it ended in tears and me distancing myself away from the rest of the group to try and salvage what was left of my stories and pride. A painful time to look back on, but at least something came out of it. I may still go forward with an original series … but I just wish it could’ve come about a different way.

This version of Puck was slightly — okay rather quite a bit — younger than he is actually supposed to be; with more of a pressure on this pairing to happen … whereas I never originally wrote them to be this way … but, still, it made for an interesting work of art, I suppose … ♡

Works In Progress//Alternate Versions:

Sakon

Sakon_Realism
Sakon of the Eternity clan, a group of chivalrous ninja-thieves, from my story, Soul of Eternity, inspired by my old Soul Calibur fanfic novel series.

Edit – August 24th, 2021 – I found these WIP art pieces of Sakon-kun in my art folders:

So… as you can see, Sakon-kun started off with black hair – this is cos the Sakon he is adapted from in Soul Calibur IV has black hair, but as I was working on this art piece, I became inspired by Hidehiko Hoshino of BUCK-TICK (who resembles SCIV Sakon, and dyes his hair chestnut brown), and Sam Winchester from Supernatural (who is a brunette too) – these were my two crushes at the time I was rewriting my SC fanfics into an original series, so you get the picture of where I was coming from…

I was going to give Sakon-kun the name “Jared” after Sam’s actor, Jared Padalecki, when my art group was initially going to take my SC fanfics and rewrite them into a sorta crossover with our main graphic novel webcomic series (MQ is it’s project name for now; also known as Seasonal Wanderers at one point too), so the modern day Sakon-kun would’ve been named “Jared” with “Sakon” being his codename, kinda like how Sha-mitsu/Sha-Mina’s codename is Kagemitsu in the Manji/Eternity clan, but this was all retconned when we came to an agreement that my SC fanfics didn’t work in the modern day for… reasons.

The Japanese-style background behind Sakon-kun in one of the WIP art pieces came from the J-Pop channel on an internet radio I’d listen to all the time that Summer, and the cherry blossoms in the background in the final piece came from a photograph I traced and coloured over that me or Micky took when we were at the annual cherry blossom festival.

Here’s the speed-paint video I did of the initial version of this art piece, for those who are curious and want to see more:
